I’m writing this on Saturday, May 21st, the beginning of the end of the world according to the Family Radio Network and its founder, Harold Camping. Now while it is highly unlikely that this is the end, there is no question that we are living in the time of the end. If people are going to wake up to the reality that judgement day is just around the corner they will need someone to share the message of reconciliation with them.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20
Are you willing to go anywhere?
Would you be willing to go anywhere God sends you in order to warn others about the end of the world? Would you be willing to make a fool of yourself? Wear a sandwich board warning people of the end of time? It would be easy to explain things away and say that God doesn’t expect us to do crazy things for him. At the same time though, God wasn’t afraid of asking for big commitments when he was on earth…
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘seta man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. ’He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” – Matthew 10:34-39
God calls us to total commitment. If we really love him we’ll be all in. Whatever it takes…
